Composed By 1999-06-22 Kremerata Baltica performed Bach’s masterpiece Chaconne from Partita for Violin No. 2, arranged for string orchestra by Gidon Kremer and Victor Kissine and also prepared the third part of the concert – chamber music evening with Martinu’s Duo for two Violins, Dmitri Kurliandski’s Quartet “Dolce Stil Nuovo” and Shostakovich’s String Octet. This new recording – the second Kremerata Baltica album dedicated to Weinberg – is, Kremer feels, “the most valuable landmark in the orchestra’s discography since its birth.” It is released in time for a major tour celebrating both Kremerata Baltica’s 20th anniversary and leader Gidon Kremer’s 70th birthday.
